See my other review of a replacement lid, they both have a similar design challenge. You need to be able to take the rubber piece out to clean it. The removal ultimately may weaken a piece of plastic that holds it in place. To be transparent, I’ve only had the cup about nine months and it is never broken. But I have purchased a replacement top because of the concern that it might.
