Size: Excellent. Not many, if none at all, available in 12oz size.
Ceramic coating: Excellent. Good luck finding such feature elsewhere.
Lid: OK.
1) Recess: Good. Has deeper recess to help negotiate/sip hot coffee.
2) Spout: OK. Spout/opening is too wide allowing too much hot liquid out at one time. The contigo Byron 2.0 has a smaller round opening that regulates hot liquid better.
3) Flip Back stopper: Improvement needed. Does not flip back enough and seal/plug is quite large resulting in nose always contacting underside of stopper. Annoying ‘wet nose’ feeling that needs wiped off. Fit this reason, switched to the Contigo Byron 2.0 16 oz Snap-Seal. The only tumbler that has it right with regard to the lid.
Thermal retention: Not seeing 10 hour retention as advertised. Typical problem of likely all others. Quick test of hot coffee yielded poor results. Filled with hot coffee (12 ounces for the test duration, lid on, stopper closed, 70 degree F ambient). Start temp 145 degrees F. 4 hours later, temp was 111 degrees (somewhat warm). Likely better retention with more capacity and slightly larger tumbler body for increased air gap (the Contigo 16 oz seems to retain heat better).
Final thoughts…. Really nice, simple, and convenient design with a highly regarded ceramic coating. However, the contigo snap-seal lid is design perfection, so the Byron 2.0 Snap-Seal wins hands down.
